How to Rest + Still Be Productive During the Holidays

it s beginning to look a lot like christmas board decor beside star and red bauble flatlay photography

It’s officially the holiday season.

It’s a time for joy and celebration and fun times. Not work, stress, and producing content. If you’re someone who regularly creates content for your platforms, then you know that it’s not always easy. Maybe, like a lot of us, you’re craving a break. So yes, go ahead and take that break. But did you know you can still be productive while you’re recharging this holiday season?

Yes, there is a way to take advantage of the holiday season to reset and recharge while still being productive. I’m 100-percent for taking care of yourself and refilling your creative cup, but there are some simple steps to take to set yourself up for that January 1st feeling; fresh and ready to tackle the year (even if it’s a repeat of 2020 *shudders*).

01. Set clear goals

Is it really a surprise that I’m talking about goal-setting again? (No, it’s not). Well, I talk about it a lot because it’s so important to have clear, concise goals. While you might be taking a break from producing content for your social media platform, take a bit of time to plan your goals for 2021. Make it fun; a thick blanket and a cup of hot chocolate seem fitting.

Here’s how I set my yearly goals:

  • What do you want to accomplish this year? What do you want to have accomplished by the end of 2021? These goals will most likely be those big ones. Write two novels? Finish an editing project? Write everything down you want to accomplish in the year.
  • Break those yearly goals down into monthly goals. Break down those intimidatingly-big goals into more manageable chunks for your monthly goals. Be sure to take into account months you know are usually busier.
  • Time to make weekly goals. This might be a little trickier to do in advance, but do you best to organize those monthly goals into weekly goals. If you’re feeling unstoppable, go ahead and create daily goals too. 😉

02. Organize, organize, organize

There’s not much better than heading into a new year with an organized life. Set aside a day to completely organize your desk, work space, bedroom, bookshelf, closet, the dark abyss that is the hazard under your bed. Whatever it is, if it needs organizing, tackle it now. Play your favorite Christmas jams and get ready to organize!

03. Plan your content for 2021

Since you found about 3,623 notebooks under your bed after organizing, might as well use one of them to do some more 2021 planning. Take a break from that hardcore organizing to plan out your social media content for the first couple months of 2021.

I hope these three simple steps will help you prepare for the coming year while still leaving you free for some much-needed rest and relaxation. Merry Christmas, everyone!

What are some of your 2021 goals?
