I’ve found that I really like to read posts where it feels like the blogger is just writing freely and whatever comes to their mind, imaging they’re sipping coffee or tea. It gives off aesthetic cozy vibes that just calm and relax me.
So, I’d like to start that on my blog.
I know…”Coffee Talks” is such an original name for this, right? But that’s the first name that came into mind, and I think it reflects the feel I’m going for. Just sitting and sipping coffee with you all, chatting about anything and everything.
What you can find in Coffee Talks: my random ramblings about any subjects on my heart, from deep thoughts to movies, to books and an especially tasty new drink, or just some words of encouragement. And maybe some aesthetic photos in the mix. ๐
Imagine…
It’s chilly outside and softly raining. You’re sitting by the window in the calm grey sunlight, snuggled under a soft blanket. Your fingers are wrapped around a hot mug of coffee, just the way you like it, warming your hands. As you sip, you gaze out at the water droplets running rivulets down the window and the misty trees outside.
All set? Comfy? Good.
Oh, boy…where do I start? How about with reading. Right now (at the time I’m writing this), I am enjoying this super good non-fiction book. It’s Kisses from Katie, by Katie Davis Majors. Katie tells about how God called her to be a light and helping hand in Uganda. She talks about her joys and her struggles in this new strange place. She talks a bit about the culture and the spirited people. She has such a compassionate heart for children, and her deep love for God just pours from her words. It’s so inspiring and encouraging to read about how she depends on God for her strength as she pushes through each day caring for the needy children of Uganda and her own children that she eventually adopts.
I feel a real connection with Katie because of her joyous love for Christ. I feel as though she’s almost like a mentor to me through her book. She’s such a great example of what I should be doing and how much more I need to turn to God in times of hardships (and times of joy), instead of trying to rely on my own strength (which fails time and time again).
She has a second book,ย Daring to Hope,ย that I will justย haveย to get my hands on one of these days. She’s really made me aware of all the children around the world who don’t have somebody to love them, or the people that were supposed to love them left. She’s made me think of all those poor malnourished children that just want to be fun, playful kids, instead of having to manage a home and care for their siblings to survive. And who knows? Maybe I’ll adopt someday and make a difference in one child’s life.
I just love those unexplainable moments. Those feelings and moments that are just too sweet and wonderful and beautiful to try to put into words. Quiet night drives, a cleansing rain in the forest, music that stirs deep feelings, comfortable silences with friends that understand you, a night sky splattered with stars too many to count, songs that make you stop and just close your eyes, the majesty of snow-capped mountains, and laughing ’til you cry.
I especially love it when I can feel that God’s presence is somewhere. You justย knowย that He’s working through something, but you can’t explain that excited feeling that gives you chills.
Chat with me in the comments (as we sip our coffee) about any thoughts you might have about anything and everything. What non-fiction book really spoke to you? What are some moments that are really special to you?
Thank you for stopping by. Just leave your empty mugs in the sink. Take a cinnamon roll with you and be sure to come back for more Coffee Talks in the future.

Welp, I don’t like coffee, but I’ll happily warm my hands on the mug and sniff it. I like the smell, at least. ๐
I recently reread one of my favorite books, Josiah’s Fire. It’s a nonfiction story about a young boy with autism who lost his ability to speak. When he finally learns how to communicate to his parents on an iPad at about age seven, he stuns them with his knowledge of Heaven and his great love for Jesus. He has real-life encounters with Christ in Heaven, and angels on earth. It’s an absolutely beautiful story of God’s splendor and goodness. It makes me excited that I’ll be meeting Jesus in Heaven someday (or Earth depending on which comes first). Are you excited about meeting Him?
Well, I can provide tea as well next time if you prefer. ๐
That book sounds amazing and powerful! Yes, meeting Him is something that I am both terrified (because of how badly I fall short of who He wants me to be) and thrilled about! I’m glad you are excited too! ๐
*mutters something about not liking tea either* x.x
๐
Aw, such a beautiful bit of randomness! โค๏ธ Reading this is like sipping a cup of hot cocoa on an autumn morning.
I donโt like coffee, but I appreciate a good Frappuccino (if it doesnโt have any coffee in it ๐). My ideal relaxing atmosphere is sitting by the ocean, listening the waves. Favorite nonfiction book? I have too many, but anything by John MacArthur or Charles Spurgeon is a sure fave for me. ๐

I think I may have to provide tea at the next Coffee Talk. Some have expressed they don't care for the coffee. ๐ ๐ Ocean waves are SO relaxing. Oh, my whole family likes Charles Spurgeon too!
Uh, well, I donโt like tea either. ๐ Iโm kind of cantankerous, arenโt I? ๐
Oh, lol! ๐ What beverage would you like me to bring for you next time then? ๐
*breathes in slowly*
Ahhh
Yes. (:
๐ I’m glad you enjoyed it.
