#WritingCommunity Blog Award

I am very honored to do this tag today.

I was tagged by the awesome Miranda @Virtual Paper for the #WritingCommunity Blog Award. I’m super thrilled to have been nominated for this fun tag, so let’s get into it…

The rules

  • Display the award logo on your site.
  • Link back to the person who tagged you. (Here’s Miranda’s post)
  • Answer the 5 questions.
  • Tag 3 blogs (must be blogs related to writing, not book review blogs) and ask them 5 new questions.
  • Follow as many blogs with this award as you can!

The Questions

01. What’s the best writing advice you have heard?

Make your story matter. I’m sure this is a phrase very familiar to a lot of you. Created by the awesome Abbie Emmons, this statement really got me thinking about how my story matters to me, the characters, and my readers. I highly recommend checking out her blog and YouTube channel, because her writing advice is gold.

02. What’s the worst writing advice you have heard?

Don’t publish when you’re young. Whether this is for traditional or indie publishing, I disagree with this. I understand that younger people don’t have as much life experience, but GUYS. I have read stories by young authors and they are SO GOOD. Being young doesn’t necessarily mean you have to wait for your dreams to be realized. Of course, you always want to make sure you’re ready for the next big step of publishing and always put out your best work. But if you are ready, go for it.

03. Why did you make your blog a writing one?

I’d been passionate about writing for many years before starting a blog, so I think that just carried into it. I wanted to share what I learned and connect with other like-minded writers.

04. Are you a writer first or a reader first?

Of course, way back when, young little Jenna was a reader first. But writing came very soon after that. Now, if I had to choose between writing and reading, I’d pick writing every time. I can’t not give voice to the stories in my head.

05. How many writing ideas do you have on hold for the future?

Oh, boy. XD There are so many. Some big, some small. Some formed, some vague. In the near/foreseeable future, I have the sequel to my current superhero WIP, Ignite, a sci-fi/futuristic racing standalone Skyracer and about a half million others that I don’t know which to give my attention to first.

YOU! If you run a writing blog, then consider yourself tagged. 😉

Your questions…

01. Why do you like to write?

02. What’s your favorite writing topic to blog about?

03. What topics/issues/people do you want to bring awareness about through your stories?

04. What’s your favorite genre to write and why?

05. How do you want to impact people through your blog?

Enjoy!

Are your a writer first or a reader first? Why?

Great post, Jenna!!! I really like this, and I think it’s awesome you’re publishing young and have SO many ideas! 😊 I wish so badly I’d published young. I had a wonderful WIP, “The Sorcerer’s Realm.” But my self-esteem as a writer had been ripped to shreds by a critical older brother, and that’s what stopped me. However, I’m glad God’s worked things out so I can publish now! As you know, it’s an answer to prayer. Everything in His timing, right? 🙏

That is such a tough question, but I am absolutely a reader first, although I love writing.
I really enjoyed reading this, Jenna, and I can’t wait to read your books in the future. 🙂

Thank you for doing the tag! <3
Ah, yes, make your story matter rings more true the more I write, learn and read. I love that advice! (Also love Abbie, she's awesome :D).
I am surprised about the reader first answer. I thought you would be writer first.
Haha, same, so many ideas it is almost crazy! What I am going to do with them all? I guess I will never run out of ideas.

      😀 Thanks for tagging me!
      Yes, Abbie is so great!
I’m a writer first now, but I definitely was reader first for a while. 🙂
I guess we’d rather have too many ideas than none at all, am I right? 😉 Thanks for reading!

Great post! Love what you said about what people say about not publishing young…This helps me see that I don’t need to be embarrassed about my writing just because I am young. So thanks so much!
