Looking Back {June wrap-up}

June was…

Stressful.

Lots of things were happening, lots of projects around the house being done, and hours of sleep lost.

Anyway! I am looking forward to a lot of fun things in July, and it looks to be a bit of a calmer and slower month.

Reading

Finished…

  • Kisses from Katie by Katie Davis Majors. This book about how God changed an 18-year-old girl’s life to go serve in Uganda is amazing, heartbreaking, and touching in so many ways. It made me more aware of the poverty around the world and the people and children who need constant prayer and help. Ten million star.
  • American Pharoah by Shelley Fraser Mickle. Yes, Pharoah is spelled incorrectly on purpose; that’s part of the story. This Marguerite Henry feel story of the Triple Crown winner was super fun to read. I love the excitement of horse racing, and I loved learning more about this great horse and the people that were involved in his rise to the top! 5 stars.
  • Lightporter (IDIA #2) by C. B. Cook. It’s been too long since I’ve enjoyed reading about these awesome characters! Though I liked book 1 more than 2, I still really enjoyed it. 4 stars.
  • How to Write Using the Snowflake Method by Randy Ingermanson. This has changed my writing life. I had never found a perfect outlining process for myself, and honestly I never really enjoyed that part of the process. But the unique way Ingermanson tells this story to show his special Snowflake Method got me hooked. I’ve already started using it and it is amazing! 5 stars.
  • Riding for Life: a Horsewoman’s Guide to Lifetime Health & Fitness by Rallie McAllister. I didn’t necessarily use all the info in here, like the diet and nutrition stuff (a lot of it I already knew or was doing), but the fitness part was really good. She had a lot of good advice specifically for the female horsewoman. 3 stars.
  • Jupiter Storm by C. J. Darlington. Just as good as Jupiter Winds! I just love this book and the author’s writing so much. I love that there’s really no romance and it focuses more on strong sibling/family bonds. Suspense on every page! 5 stars.

Currently reading…

  • A Thousand Perfect Notes by  C. G. Drews. I feel like I’ve been waiting my whole life to read this. I’ve heard so many good things about this book, and they are already proving to be true!
  • So Help Me God by Roy Moore. Stop looking at me like that…I’ll finish it…some day.

Writing

Nothing besides more outlining for Embers. Using the Snowflake Method makes outlining fly by. I’ll be writing this thing in no time. 😉

Life Stuff

  • I graduated high school! So yeah…kind of the highlight of my month. 😉 I always enjoyed school, but it feels good to be done and finally move on to other things that I’ve dreamed of doing after high school.
  • I won a book giveaway for the first time! Suuuuuper excited about this! I won a giveaway for the children’s book A Visit to Oaklenbrooke Farm by Aleigha C. Israel, illustrated by Mariposa Aristeo. I don’t know the author, but I have known Mariposa for a while. 🙂 I’m sure you’ve seen me mention her and her blog, Dino’s Digest. CHECK OUT THIS BOOK GUYS! Her art is amazing!

  • Watched Captain MarvelDefinitely not my favorite Marvel movie, but it was better than I expected. There was some pretty good humor in it. 🙂

And that’s pretty much it. I know I said June’s been super busy and stressful, and most of all that was centered around my graduation. We had some projects/repairs needing to be done around the house before extended family arrived to stay for the weekend. We also had two trips this month to visit family.

So there’s my June! How was yours? Let me know in the comments!

Congrats on graduating!! *throws confetti* So many exciting things happening from blogger friends this month. I’ve heard of the Snowflake Method and am ready to read that book and see how great it is for myself. (I agree with you– I’ve never had a perfect outlining method either, so I’ll definitely need to check it out on your recommendation!)

Congrats on graduating! 🎉🎉🎉 *Aberdeen gives you celebratory book cake*

Aw, I know I said this before, but it’s worth saying twice: YOUR EXCITEMENT OVER WINNING MY GIVEAWAY MAKES ME EXCITED TOO! ❤️🥰 (although it makes Aberdeen depressed because he really wanted to keep the book and eat it 😛). Btw, any names for the squirrel yet? 🐿

😊❤️ Well, I’ll have to repay Aberdeen someday. 😉 No, sadly I am terrible at naming, so no name yet. I’ll keep thinking! 🤔
