One-Year Blogiversary Q&A|Part 1

*screams into pillow*

I am so excited to be doing my first blogiversary Q&A here! Thank you all for submitting questions. I can’t wait to get into this.

But first, I thought it’d be fun to show some stats about how you all have grown this site…

Most popular post: Project Inspire {encourage others in their writing journey}

Very first subscriber:  Christine

Person with most comments: Kassie

Total posts: 74

Total views/visitors: 7,498/1,989

Subscriber count: 87

Now onto the questions! And since I got way more questions than expected (yay!) this is just part 1 of the fun! 😉

01. 3 favorite books and 3 least favorite books?

UGH HOW DO I CHOSE ONLY THREE FAVES??? We’ll go with A Time to Die, A Time to Rise (both Nadine Brandes),and Resistance (Jaye L. Knight).

Least favorites: …

Why am I drawing a blank? I know I’ve read some books I didn’t like before.

I’m gonna cheat and skip that part became my mind is blank. 😛

02. What inspired you to start a blog mainly about writing?

Writing is something I’m super passionate about and I wanted to have a place to get my thoughts out there, and maybe help other writers too. I want to encourage writers to change the world with their words. And it’s a dream of mine to be published one day, and a blog was a good way to start building my platform.

03. Favorite writing/reading snack?

I don’t eat or drink a lot while I write, but it would most likely be eating a sandwich and drinking water.

04. What’s your Starbucks order?

Usually some variation of a latte. I think caramel lattes are my favorite right now. <3

05. Do you have any unusual talents?

Why, yes. I have the uncanny ability to use my shoulder to gravitate towards door frames as I walk by. Sometimes, I can even do it with my toes. *nods*

06. Would you rather have to explain the plot of your WIP to a long-time friend or a stranger?

Definitely a stranger. Because if my explanation comes out in a jumbled mess, then I know I probably won’t see this person ever again. 😉

07. What is a strange, random, useless talent that you worked hard to have and are extremely proud of?

Making eggs sunny side up without breaking the yolks. #skillz

08. Which character of your WIP do you relate to most?

Definitely Scarlett from my superhero novel Embers. We are alike in that we both are introverts, bookworms, and deal with similar internal conflict.

09. Have you ever based a character off of yourself?

No, but the above mentioned Scarlett turned out to be a lot like me.

10. What about friends? Did you tell them?

I haven’t done this either. But If I did, I would probably let the victim know. 😉

11. What time/space did blogging take away from in your weekly schedule?

Sadly, it has cut into writing time. But it hasn’t taken up as much as I had expected when starting. Usually what I do is sit down and write a bunch of blog posts at the same time and schedule them to go out, that way I don’t have to worry about it for a few weeks.

12. What is your favorite spam comment you’ve gotten on your blog?

Probably this one that was just going about on this Dan guy who was a doctor and putting links everywhere in their comment. I was so confused and it had nothing to do with the post! 😀

14. What is the most surprising thing that has happened relating to your blog?

That I’m nearing 100 followers? I mean, this is awesome. You guys are awesome. EVERYTHING IS AWESOOOOME! (did you get that reference?)

15. Do you often dream at night?

I feel like half the time I do and half I don’t (and half the time I do I don’t remember it). I do wish I would dream more, because I’ve gotten some pretty snazzy book ideas from dreams in the past.

16. What is the worst time for you to be writing?

Late evening. I don’t feel like writing when it’s the end of the day and all the work’s done and the family’s just chilling. My mind wanders like nothing else.

17. Would you rather be inside reading and writing or swimming?

Definitely inside reading and writing. I don’t really like swimming all that much….nor do I like summer all that much. -_-

18. Do you like cold or hot better?

Like the above answer would imply, COLD! I love my sweaters and cardigans and sweat pants and socks and blankets and etc.

19. Do you have a character named after a family member or friend?

I’ve never purposefully named a character after a family member or friend, but sometimes it turned out that I did without realizing it.

But none come to mind.

20. What occupation out of all your characters would you want to have most?

I don’t know if this counts as an occupation, but my characters from Embers are superheroes. And as a Marvel/superhero fan, I dig that.

21. What’s your funniest typo (doesn’t have to be from the blog)?

Hmmm…I try to make it a point not to remember those, but let me see…

Recently I was reading over a bit I wrote and read, “My feet dip into the cold puddles sitting the floor.” This is probably not my worst, but just….what?

22. What’s your dream car?

Love this question! I love Dodge Ram trucks and Dodge Chargers. I don’t know if I could pick between them for my dream car.

23. What is your favorite restaurant?

I don’t really have one, but I really like Cracker Barrel and Red Lobster.

24. Where is the best place you’ve been on vacation?

It’s a tie between Kentucky and a trip to the west side of US my family took. It was gorgeous!

25. What is your favorite school subject?

I really liked art and history (and, um, PE, ’cause that means riding horses 😛 ).

26. What is your favorite movie?

Oh, boy. I can’t say that I have only one favorite movie, but I’m a big fan of the Marvel and Star Wars movies, plus an assortment of horse movies.

27. What is your favorite way of transportation?

By car for sure (wait…do horses count?). I’m not a fan of traveling with a bunch of strangers (and flying makes me nervous) and I like the road-trip-feel of being in the car. 🙂

28. What is your favorite candy?

A Watchamacallit bar. I’m not gonna pretend like I spelled that right.

I hope you all enjoyed this Q&A! I surely did. I really appreciate the time you all take to follow my blog and leave all these nice comments. <3 Stay tuned for part 2, coming out I don’t know when. 😛

I can’t believe I have the most comments!! 💕 This was so much fun! And DODGE RAMS!! I’ve literally always been a diehard Ford girl, until I recently discovered just how much I liked Rams… It’s a tie between a Ram and a red Firebird for me. XD Worst typo?? I texted my dad I was eating bean and vegan soup, instead of bacon. 🤣 Unusual talent? Maybe reciting the alphabet backwards? Is that a talent??
Also Cracker Barrel is our entire family’s favorite thanks to my mom!! 😝

Secretariat is amazing! I watched it with my grandma, brother, and cousin a while back, and it was very good. 🙂

Ohh! That’s awesome! As far as mine go, I liked Flicka 2 and A Gift Horse. And Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron was my CHILDHOOD. I know these are the more corny ones, but I have a fondness for those XD

I guess my dream car would be…probably a GMC Yukon (those things are amazing 🙂 ).
Unusual talent? Hmmm, not sure. Most of my talents aren’t unusual (unless the crazy writing life is considered unusual…;) )
I don’t know what my worst writing typo has been that I haven’t caught…hmmm…

    Can’t wait for part 2!!

Now all of the sudden I want a caramel latte… (all of the sudden nothin’, I’ve been wanting one all week! 😛 ).
My family’s main vehicle is a GMC Yukon XL! 😀

This morning, my dad took me to Starbucks, and I ordered an iced caramel latte. But they got the order wrong and gave me a hot caramel latte. So they remade it, and I got my iced one along with a hot one for free! XD
That’s so cool! A family at my church has a Yukon, too, and I think it’s so cool. 😉

Congrats on your one year blogiversary, Jenna! I just recently subscribed (though I’ve been keeping an eye on your blog for awhile ;P).
An unusual talent of mine? ….I can walk into walls whilst looking straight at them, on TOTAL accident — I know I know, I am burdened with a glorious purpose, for tis a talent bestowed only upon the most incompetent. XD

PS. I nominated you for the Liebster Award!
