(More) Bible Verses for Writers

two purple flowers

I love it when I find Bible verses I can apply to my writing life.

I used to think that kind of thing didn’t exist. But it turns out there are many verses that can be used to encourage, uplift and inspire us in our writing journeys.

So many that I had to make a part two of this post.

It is my hope that with those post you will realize that the Bible can be applied to ANY area of your life. Even your writing journey.

Esther 4:14

“‘…And who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this?'”

Maybe that story you’re working on is coming just at the right time for someone, for some event, maybe just for yourself. God gives you the inspiration in His perfect timing. Trust it.

Proverbs 16:3

“Commit your work to the Lord and your plans will be established.”

Dedicate your writing to your Father and He will fulfill your God-given desires, goals, and plans.

Matthew 5:16…

“In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”

Let the shining light of your stories brighten this world and beat back the darkness. Let all your stories point back to Him and give Him glory.

…19:26…

“…’With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.'”

This is such a wonderful thought! Almost hard to wrap the mind around. ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE WITH GOD. Those dreams you have that seems so big and scary and far off ARE POSSIBLE WITH GOD.

… and 11:28

“Come to me, all who labor and heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

Writing is hard and draining. Sometimes we just can’t write another word. Take comfort in the fact that you can turn to Jesus for rest and restoration.

John 1:5

“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness will not overcome it.”

God is going to shine His light through your stories, and that is not a light than can be overcome.

Psalm 27:14

“Wait for the Lord; be strong and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!”

“Wait for the Lord” is repeated twice. Have patience and trust in His timing, and always be listening for His voice.

1 Thess. 5:11

“Therefore encourage one another and build each other up…”

The Christian writing community can come together over this verse. It’s perfect. We should be encouraging each other as God’s storytellers and uplift each other always.

Romans 8:28

“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”

Sometimes it can be easy to wonder and worry, “Will my dreams ever come true?” If you trust God and love Him, you can be confident that whatever He has in store for you is going to be the best for you, whether it’s what you had in mind or not.
